Plough Inn, Farnsfield
Eight Embers gathered at Gunthorpe on a bright breezy day. As usual VJ had spent time working out a great route so we headed north going via Caythorpe, Hoveringham to a banana break just north of Thurgarton. Then onto Halam, Edingley and finally to the Plough Inn at Farnsfield for lunch.
After imbibing and consuming, the route back started with a short cut in Farnsfield to an old railway line that took us south east to Southwell. From there onto Fiskerton, Bleasby and a “Tea Shop” at Manor Farm just before Goverton. Suitably refreshed we finished the journey going to Thurgarton then back south via Hoveringham and Caythorpe before returning to Gunthorpe. A great day out with no punctures or mechanicals in mostly sunshine. Wonderful.

Royal Oak, Kirby Muxloe
An early local start was agreed, to avoid the hottest part of the day. Seven sweaty Embers met at Abbey Lane Asda café and loitred as long as was decent before leaving their aircon and seeking a shady route to the Royal Oak at Kirby Muxloe by 11am.
No aircon in the Royal Oak, so we cooled with drinks and meals from their breakfast menu.

Gordon Arms, Orton Longueville
A perfect day for meeting up with Tony Bradley and a cycle on Peterborough's Green Wheel. It is a wheel that needs the bearings oiling and a bit of air in the tyre, because we could trace it using the online map to the east side, but then a lack of signs meant we became lost soon after rehydrating at McDonalds.
Google proved better at guiding us to the Gordon Arms at Orton Longueville. From there it was an equally interesting ride back north through labrynthine housing estates, taking on more fluids at the Three Horseshoes, Werrington. We then cycled directly north onto Foxcovert Road until we separated 2½ miles from our start.
Five Embers cycled to the Graze Cafe in Asfordby for tea and coffee. Then, through Kirby Bellars and Gaddesby to get to Beardsley's Tea Room in Rearsby for lunch. Then home.

Royal Oak, Hurdlow
Five Embers favoured the Deby Dales on a good day for cycling. Starting from Ashbourne, we hardly needed Velo John to navigate because we stayed on the trail all the way up and back down gain.
After an excelent lunch at Royal Oak it was almost all downhill on the return. This ride replenishes our desire for huge panoramic vistas over rolling hills and woods, with a colourful foreground of brilliant wildflowers.
