2023 Cycling

Februaryclick for this month's league table

Red Lion, Market Bosworth

Plenty of hills to climb on our way to Market Bosworth. Our legs and tickers my be a bit worn but our arms never fail to lift a pint glass or knife and fork. A balmy 12°C today with occasional carpets of snowdrops.

- Peter Wright

After lunch at the Red Lion we made our way (by different routes!) to Tropical Birdland for cake.

This week many Embers cycled miles between them.

Shires Inn, Peatling Parva

Ten Embers picked the right weather for brilliant sunshine and avoided the recents frosts. Our route took us from Kibworth to Peatling Parva, with an inspection of the roadworks on the old A50 that has kept the Welford Road closed these past six months.

At the Shires Inn we found the beer more expensive than most places, but we had the difference discounted from our meals for being...?

  1. Over 21 years old
  2. Good boys
  3. Senior [moment] Citizens

(You decide)

This week many Embers cycled miles between them.

Blue Pig, Wolvey

We were supposed to be getting the Beast from the East (snow etc) but it took a detour via the tropics. Nine Embers rode to Wolvey from Cosby.

- Peter Wright

After eight years the Embers returned to the Blue Pig to review their beer and lunches.

Lined up, ready for the ride back, left to right: Richard Clark, Peter Wright, Mick Ayriss, Simon Over, Grahame Billington, Ian Bower, Richard Sleath, Derek Jordan and John Ashworth.
Roll your mousewheel to zoom in on their happy faces.

This week many dedicated Embers rode miles.

Soar Bridge Inn, Barrow upon Soar

Despite starting from a familiar location, Velo John found new roads to explore and a different route to hills we know only too well.

Refreshements at Ellis's Tearoom, Rothley Station going, and Beardsley's Tea Room returning from a new lunch stop for us at the Soar Bridge Inn. Drinks were on Mush to celebrate his 38th birthday.

Our final February ride with many Embers cycling miles.

To allow late reviews

Hoping for warm pubs in March.
