From there, everyone returned home in different groups through sleet and snow.

Starting the year with many Embers and miles.

Red Lion, Market Bosworth

A dozen Embers set off from Kirby Muxloe on a frosty morning, ably led by Richard Sleath who found the longest way to the Red Lion at Market Bosworth.

From there we took a detour back via Sutton Wharf to make the most of a brilliantly sunny day. This week many Embers cycled miles including Mick Perry who hopes to be back with the group next week.

Here is our review of this week's pub lunch.

The Plough, Wysall

A frosty morning saw Embers gather at Syston. From there Velo John set course for Wysall and the Plough Inn with a banana break on the way.

At the Plough, everyone warmed up with an excellent lunch.

Then we returned via Freckles in Barrow-upon-Soar for coffee and cake.

The Twians cycled 24 miles earlier in the week so altogether many Embers cycled miles.

Wheel & Compass, Weston by Welland

We were promised a warm, dry day, but it began wet and, when the sun came out, it was cold and windy. Nevertheless, eleven hardy Embers managed to find two cafes and a pub along their way.

Closing January with many Embers riding miles.

Hoping for warm pubs in February.
