Brass Monkey Rally

The 40th Brass Monkey was once again held at the same site as the Solent rally. We sold out of the 60 tickets by mid November, so a few regulars were regrettably disappointed.

Friday was blowing a gale which destroyed a few tents. Fortunately we jacked up emergency accommodation so people could stay for the Saturday.

Because it was the 40th the Solent MCC chairman surprised everyone (including the rest of us Solent members) by booking an Amy Winehouse tribute act for Saturday who seemed to go down well from what I saw.

There were twenty different clubs represented and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves despite the windy weather.

Long distance was shared between three chaps who had ridden 310 miles to attend. A fantastic sum of almost £300 was raised for the club charity (4th Fareham Scouts) from the raffle.

At our AGM the Solent MCC has voted to carry on running the Brass Monkey for the foreseeable future despite having to hump everything up and down two long flights of stairs.
