Round Midland Rally

A competition for all members to have a go at during the coming year:-

Some of you will no doubt have seen or heard something of the Norton Owners Club "Round Britain Rally". Well Phil and myself certainly did and we liked what we saw. Being the unscrupulous copiers that we are we decided that perhaps something along those lines only on a more local level might go down well with the Phoenix members.

The event will be called the Round Midlands Rally and will begin at the beginning of March. All Leicester Phoenix Motorcycle Club members are eligible and the event will be run as follows:-

For selected villages and towns in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire we shall choose some item of interest and it's than up to you to get yourself and your bike to this point of interest and take a picture.

For example a clue might be the clock tower, Leicester. All you have to do is get a picture of your bike in front of the clock tower. Remember this was run before the Clock Tower became a pedestrian precinct!

We shall award points for each clue - more points for the more difficult or further away clues. The person with the most points is the winner but we shall also give awards for people who get 75% of the available points and sufficient interest in the competition might even induce us to give a second class ward for 60%.

The further clues should not be any more than 60 miles from Leicester and most will be much nearer than that.

To encourage members with the smaller motorcycles and mopeds it is intended to run the competition in two halves; over 125cc and under 125cc.

Though it will start at the end of March it is not intended to finish the competition until the end of September thus giving plenty of time for members to get round the clues in their own time.
