2019 Cycling

Annual Tour

Shearings, Grand Atlantic Hotel, Weston-super-Mare.

Riders on this tour from left to right: Richard Clark, Ben Crossley, Kathy Lines, Mick Ayriss, Grahame Billington, Nigel Lines, Helen Ayriss, Dave Parry and Ian Bower. Trudy Billington was tenth Ember.

Monday - Sand Point

Ten Embers enjoyed the delights of Weston-super-Mare and the Grand Atlantic Hotel.

We arrived in time for a quick lunch then a ten mile warm-up ride to Sand Point and back before dinner.

Tuesday - Clevedon

We were determined to discover if the bridge route over the Yeo is open yet. No, it isn't, but we followed it anyway.

We also discovered how easy it is to become lost down muddy tracks. Another brilliantly sunny day although cooling down in late afternoon.

Wednesday - Burnham-on-Sea

An easier ride after Tuesday's exertions. The bridge route over the Axe is now open.

To make the day interesting we climbed to the top of Brean Down or to the Fort.

Then it was a pleasant ride back to base for another fine dinner.

Thursday - Strawberry Line

We kept to the roads as far as Sandford where we joined the Strawberry Line south to Axbridge and lunch.

Then we returned via Bleading Hill and we can't imagine a more appropriate name for it.

Thanks to Mick Ayriss for organising the tour and everyone being good company.
