2014 Cycling

December

Man At Arms, Bitteswell

Four brave riders took the challenge of riding across the city to meet us a Cosby.

Ten riders were not put off by the cold day and overcast weather.

A warm welcome and hot food didn't go amiss at the Man at Arms in Bitteswell, especially at 2 for £7! Nick joined us to help with the eating.

Then back to Cosby for coffee and cake in Granny Smith's cafe.

From here some riders still had ten miles more to ride home.

Bulls Head, Ratby

The Embers cycled into Leicester from Mountsorrel, Syston, Sileby, Rushy Mead, Wigston, Oadby, Kirby Muxloe and Enderby to meet at the Phoenix Theatre coffee bar.

After coffee Bob returned home and the rest cycled through the city and up Groby Road to Glenfield where we joined a partly tarmacked cycle path that led into Ratby. No off road riding for us.

We had lunch at the Bulls Head where we all did our best to confuse the waitress.

After lunch we returned on our separate ways.

Toby Carvery, Loughborough

Eleven Embers assembled at the Hope and Anchor for a pre-Christmas ride. From there we rode north along canal paths and cycleways into Loughborough.

After coffee (and cake) at the Coffee Pot we walked round the town centre then cycled on another tour of the town on our way to the Toby Carvery on Forest Road.

After another mystery tour of the town we found our way back to Mountsorrel where Jan was kind enough to break off from wrapping the final Christmas presents to spoil us with tea and mince pies.

The Grapes, Melton

Brilliant sunshine on a frosty day lured seven riders out onto familiar roads from Syston to Melton Mowbray so we could indulge our fetish of rummaging through stuff that might come in handy. As if we haven't accumulated a lifetime's supply.

After hunting and bargaining our way through the cattle market we retired to The Grapes for lunch.

Ian joined us by bus pass and then returned home to welcome us with tea and cake. Guess who is the dormouse and who the mad hatter.
