2013 Cycling

April

Foxton Locks Inn

Not very inspiring weather but that doesn't make John Ashworth downhearted. He won the Velo Club wet weather riders cup!

Somehow we managed to find unexplored roads in an area we thought we knew well by now.

We were at Laughton, a mile or so short of our usual puncture spot, when Wishbone's tyre deflated. Amazingly it was Dave's turn to fix it!

After lunch and light refreshments at the Foxton Locks Inn we slithered down the hill past Saddington Reservoir. Back in Fleckney we warmed up with a coffee at the Baptist Chapel.

Bulls Head, Thringstone

Eight riders set off from Thringstone on a very windy day with no intention of getting lost in the same area as on the last two occasions.

We negotiated fallen trees to take a look at Cloud Wood Quarry with Breedon on the Hill in the background. Then made our way back to the Bulls Head to meet Tony Loach for lunch.

After lunch we did the second half of the day's ride, looping east in the afternoon - eight on a figure 8. We stopped for coffee and cake at St Josephs Tea Room. We must be getting religion!

The Old Smithy, Church Lawford

This week seven riders were rewarded with a warm and sunny day and a fine hostelry at lunch-time. All these roads in the Rugby area were new to us.

Back to our wicked ways this week with a visit to an ice-cream parlour on our return to Lutterworth..
