2013 Cycling

March

Royal Horseshoes, Waltham

Seven riders ignored the weather forecast and were rewarded with a misty but dry day to ride in the Vale of Belvoir. We survived Mill Hill south from Strathern and swear to never tackle it again.

Our lunch break was taken at the Royal Horseshoes at Waltham and then took an easy (ish) ride back to Melton for a cup of tea in the Country Park cafe where we agreed next week's start location.

Bulls Head, Clipston

Eight of us took the quiet roads through Braybrook, Arthingworth and Kelmarsh on a bright and frosty day.

At least the roads should have been quiet, but the A5199 was closed for maintenance and all the traffic between Harborough and Northampton was diverted down these narrow roads.

Once we reached the west side of the A5199 we had the road pretty much to ourselves and arrived at the Bulls Head, Clipston just after opening time.

The sky clouded over when we continued our ride so we took the quick route back to Harborough for more refreshemnts at the Leisure Centre.

Golden Fleece, Stamford

Start of quotation Those out today were Bob, Derek, Ian, John, Peter and myself. Weather good if chilly. Covered 27 miles.

Had food and drinks in the Golden Fleece in Stamford. End of quotation

Blue Bell, Hoby

Cycle ride today 24 miles from Ian's house or 33 miles from Dave's. Cycled out to Grimston, Saxelby and lunched at Hoby.

Derek only made it past Rearsby as he had a faulty crank and had to pack up.

On our journey we met Ian Goodson.
