February

The Wheatsheaf, Thurcaston

To celebrate Jan Muschialli's birthday, and to thank her for all the coffee and cake consumed on our frequent visits, we decided to treat her to a ... er ... pub crawl.

Despite a full meal at the Wheatsheaf we found that the walk home made room for a little piece of cake.

Val and Tony Loach and Ben made their way directly to the pub to make sure that they didn't miss out on a booze-up.

Red Lion, Huncote

Only five riders out this week to start (and end) at a favourite location. New roads took us through Stoney Stanton, Sapcote, Burbage (yes, you can get down Sketchley Lane on a bicycle) and back on the A47 cycle route.

Getting onto the A5 carriageway was dangerous. Crossing Watery Gate ford was easy - problem was getting too and from it!

Mush strikes his Playboy Centrefold pose during one of our frequent stops.

Nut and Squirrel, Nailstone

Start of quotation Mush, Mick, Ian, John, Derek and me out today.

Bloody cold. 25 miles. Pub stop Nut and Squirrel, Nailstone.

Mush took photos. End of quotation

The Holly Bush, Ashby Parva

Our first start was from Cosby - at least it wasn't flooded this week. Our second start at just gone 11am was from Wishbone's after drinking all his tea and coffee. By the time we reached Stony Stanton we were all in dire need of our traditional banana break.

From there we pressed on to Ashby Parva and the Holly Bush pub for further food and refreshments.
